Empathy

Reflection:

As a counselor-in-training, I strive to demonstrate empathy by creating a safe, supportive, and nonjudgmental environment where clients feel heard and respected. I work to avoid imposing my own values while remaining mindful of each client’s unique experiences, beliefs, and perspectives. Through self-reflection, supervision, and ongoing training, I continue developing greater awareness of how I show up in the counseling relationship and how to respond with compassion and professionalism.

I also recognize the importance of maintaining appropriate boundaries and building a strong therapeutic alliance grounded in trust, acceptance, and empathy. My goal is to support clients with humility and understanding while continuing to grow into an ethical and effective counselor.

This artifact reflects my growth as a clinical mental health counselor-in-training and my ongoing commitment to ethical, client-centered practice in alignment with the 2016 CACREP standards.
