Patience

Reflection:

As a counselor-in-training, I strive to demonstrate respect for autonomy by recognizing and honoring the unique experiences, choices, and perspectives of both myself and others. I work to create a welcoming environment through open body language, active listening, and genuine engagement, helping clients feel safe to explore their thoughts and feelings without judgment. I also respect personal and professional boundaries, understanding that growth occurs when individuals are empowered to make their own decisions.

Through self-reflection and supervision, I have learned the importance of encouraging self-acceptance and self-exploration while maintaining a calm and supportive presence, even in challenging situations. As I continue to develop as a counselor, I hope to further strengthen my ability to support client autonomy by fostering trust, respecting individual differences, and empowering clients to take an active role in their own growth and healing.
